Structural Component:
In order to maintain internal
and external balance or homeostasis, an individual's skeletal structure
needs to be addressed.
Joints in the spine or anywhere else in the body can misalign or "subluxate." This will cause muscular imbalance, nerve irritation/inflammation, and general pain symptoms that may linger for weeks or months. Joint misalignments can alter how a person functions physically, limiting and negatively influencing simple activities such as walking, sleeping, doing one's job, and caring for one's family.
Structural subluxations can also affect internal balance by causing nerve interference. Nerve interference means a nerve cannot properly transmit a signal from one's brain to a target organ, muscle, or blood vessel. This will then lead to said organ, tissue, or vessel not responding properly or performing inefficiently. Subluxations can cause nerve interference by directly irritating a nerve, causing muscle spasms and inflamed tissue or causing variances in proper structural biomechanics.
A chiropractor is trained to assess an individual's structure and determine if subluxations are creating health issues that may be at the root of his or her health problems.
